Default TRS Casings..Suggestions

I have an 87 Formula with TRS drives that I bought recently and am slowly restoring while using..the casings were painted with bottom paint (hillbilly prior owner) so I soda blasted them on the boat in hopes Id find them to be in descent shape enough to do a quick prime and paint for the season..although they look much better they do have pitting and some scag damage..I was planning on pulling the outdrives this winter to refinish and will most likely pull them apart and rebuild as well since they are off..that being said does anyone know where I could get casings in better shape or would you suggest repairing refinishing myself (have heard of guys using epoxy type body filler to smooth and restore) or does anyone know of a good place that would do it for me in the Cleveland to Port clinton area?

I used body filler on my old TRS's from the Baja, I also used imron paint and they held up great for a few years, I also racked the boat so they never sat in water..

Depends how bad they are, the TRS is known to split the lower case when weak, I would check that out, if they are corroded around spanner nut then I would start shopping now....

Lil red has a few sets of TRS's he is trying to sell. They are getting cheaper these days, but the youngest case is 25 years old. At least they used TRS'S in your boat. Most 87 boats are Alphas.

DYVMASTER, how did the soda blasting work? I'm thing of taking the lower units off this winter to repaint them, how big of a mess does it make. Did you rent the blaster?

Full FORCE, what are all the steps for applying IMRON paint?

Is that in a can or thru a compressor. Did you sand it all the way down to the casting?
