Default HP 500 Gen VI Carb Motor Info

HP 500 VI carb motor. Any info for a replacement block on these other than Merc. Long block or short block or whatever - even remaned / used with not issues.

We have a twin motor app and one of the motors has a small crack / water leak in the block that I have never seen before in that area.

The crack maybe at the most is 1/2 inch in lenth and is very close to the oil pan starboard side middle of the motor area. Has anyone seen these motors crack in that spot.

Motor is still in the boat and can see it with the inspection camera. the small crack in the block does leak water while running or just running water thru the T-stat hose with the motor shut off. thanks for the help.

Is it leaking into the oil, or just to the outside? If the latter, then it may be a candidate for the locknstitch repair. No that is not a city in Sweden, it is a method of arresting cracks from spreading further and repairing the crack. It is used frequently in the heavy truck industry.

Thanks and thought about them also. ( LnS ). Seen what they do a couple of years ago at PRI in Orlando. I still have to pull the motor first and take a better look at.
