how do we find " prop slip " ? is there a tool i buy ?

here is why . i just bought a cig. 38ft flatdeck . i like the boat just want a little more speed . my last boat was a 29 outlaw baja that ran about 70 .

this boat comes on plane better than a mastercraft with 23 p props tops out the tach at about 5200 rpm . so i was going to try a set of 25p props to see if that gains any speed and still gets out of the water good . so i start reading this forum and see the term " prop slip " and wonder how you find these numbers so i can find the correct prop before i call bblades to get a set of props .

one more question , what is the difference in a " cleaver prop" i tried another set of 23p cleaver props and other than the cool look i see no advantage ...

Most are 1.50 there were some 1.33

Don't get caught up with "Prop Slip" run the best props for your boat at the performance you are looking for. Know the numbers but don't get carried away with them.

I have a set of 29" props that run the same top speed @ 100RPM lower than my 25" props, but they cruise 8mph faster @ 3600RPM.
25" = 17%, 29" = 23% I am running the 29's

thas kind of what i have found over the years with a prop change . i have 2 sets of props to change and try this weekend to see what i like . now it runs 23's , going to try 25 and 27's to see if it gains speed and still gets on water easily .
