Question Flathead Lake Montana info

Heading out to Montana for a little break and I know nothing about Flathead Lake.

Appreciate any info and if anyone has a spare seat, I would love to see the Lake from the water side.

Appreciate any info, thanks.

There has to be somebody that has just taken a ride on this lake.

Largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi river and no info?

What would you need to know.

Just trailer your boat to the lake and go boating like I just did. Lake Pend Oreille is still top of the list.

My rank order for the lakes we just visited.

1. Lake Pend Oreille
2. Lake Couer D Alene
3. Flathead Lake
4. Lake Tahoe

I'm at Flathead right now without my boat. Sure would be nice to hit the lake on the water. The Docks at Lakeside is a good place for lunch.

Ah, Flathead, lake of my youth. Take a run to Bigfork and make sure to check out the Garden Bar (short walk). If you go for a swim, remember it is Glacier fed and COLD! Also, if you get around Egg Island off the tip of Findley Point, check your charts (and get some local knowledge)...very shallow. Have a great time!

Brad - met you at the Miami Beach Marina docking that 50 NorTec. Great to see that Cig with the Bitterroots in the background! I thought I had heard someone had a Cafe on Flathead a few years ago?

Cheers,

Hi Charlie

Not sure when you are going..and can't help much on boating at Flathead ...but some ideas on "local" racing scene-

A day trip to Coeur d'Alene may be in order if in the neighborhood during labor day (8-31)...hydro racing returns to the lake after several historic boats put on a demonstration run last year. The unlimited lights are running this year (looks like they ran at Polson/Flathead last year) as well as some Unlimited exhibition laps. Assume the vintage boats will be back as well.

Anyway just some ideas....Footage from the hydro museum... Miss Bardahl 1962 this weekend on the Columbia..

have fun!
