My boat had 168 hours on it when i bought it a few month back.
of those hours, 76 where at idle. Boat ran good, but the throttle where always a little off. No big deal.
Then I noticed the more use to the boat I got, the more it started getting rougher when getting on plane, then it cleaned up? we are talking VERY little roughness but enough I noticed it.
After some research on here, I was told 496's are very rich at idle, and can be hard on plugs.
Put a new set of plugs AC Delco Platinum, gaped at .60.. and WOW
the boat was SO much more responsive when hitting the throttles, and they care now even when working them...
crazy spending 120 bucks for spark plugs, but well worth the 1.5 hours it took to install them.

Glad to hear you got good results.
I just replaced mine over the weekend on my 525EFI. I used the stock NGK's and didn't notice much. It sounds better though. I was hoping for that elusive extra 5MPH.
