Default I Hate This F**king Boat!!!!!

Okay get this
Friend of mine while I was out to dinner with family came over and installed new risers and new riser gaskets for me.
(did not ask him to do this)
okay got home he was tinkering away blah blah
so we keep going la dee dah no biggie
start one engine, finally got it running and it runs well
(these engines are BRAND NEW NEVER FIRED)
next engine, am turning over and starter sounds weak
then as im turning it over I hear this Klunk
#5 cylinder filled up wtih water from the friends wonderful mistake in when he put on the new gasket he never cleaned off the manifold or riser and gasket did not seal
So now I have a brand new never fired engine full of water
WTF I HATE THIS F***ing BOAT!!!!
THis is the whole damn reason I took the engines out to begin with, cause one had yoohoo chocolate milk for oil.

So now comes the wonderful question as to WTF do I do now?
Im going to order another set of gaskets, pull off ALL the risers (including the one that is sealed properly)
use a cookie pad to clean everything off and start over, I dont need this **** anymore.
and I am going to do the rest of this on my own, I dont want ANY help from ANYONE ever again
Ill do this on my own, cause honestly this is a mistake that is so freakin rediculous and he looked at me when I said did you clean the surfaces of the manifold and the riser?
I get a big HUH?
clean it why?
Oh for the ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,leave, just go home
get out of my face before I crack a wrench upside your freakin head.

is this salvageable or not?
SHE NEVER FIRED UP, she just turned over with the starter.
she kept fouling plugs, and oil looks dark.
drained oil, oil filter in trash, new oil filter on, pulled all plugs, disconnected coil,
let it sit overnight
today, going to fill it with fresh oil and just start cranking it over with no coil wire on it to see if I cant just get the oil psi up and recoat everything.

Is this a good idea or is this bad?
I dont know what the hell to do with this s**t anymore

Dude, I feel for ya. I've been lurking and watching this whole thing unfold, hoping things would get better for ya this weekend. If it weren't for bad luck, you'd have no luck at all. Don't give up amigo!

Jason,

What you might want to do is remove all of the spark plugs again, spray a little fogging oil or wd-40 in each cylinder and then crank it over without the plugs so you can listen to it.
Hopefully you haven't broken anything, if you didn't start it you are probably OK.

Check out the post in the General discusion. You are likely ok but you want to get the water out of there first. DO NOT turn the engine over with the plugs in there. Get your oil PSI up with the plugs out. It is easier on the starter and also you will not bend anything that way. If you really want to be safe do a leak down test or compresion test before you try and fire it. Make sure they are all close. It is cold and new so your readings will be all over but she give you a idea of any problems that you could have.

Default I hate to say this, but

That clunk you heard, might have been more damaging that one would think. Sometimes it's ok and others it can damage bearings and rods....

Let the spilled milk go under the bridge, and examine this one from an objective view point. I know that you don't want to pull that motor, but it might be easier so you will have piece of mind than going 10 hours and doing it anyway

Get some more informed opinions, but things just like this have been told on this board.

I know it seems horrible, but you just learned an important leasson - NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR **** LIKE YOU DO!

Good luck!!!!

well I have to say this, from cranking the one engine that now runs over (took a few hours to get it to run right and timing set) the batteries were weak, very weak
this engine was turning over but very slow
That starter motor was not that strong sounding and I doubt I bent anything
cause when I was trying to turn it over before it sprung a leak, it would just die out from the batteries being so dead.
like I would get a turn, then a pause then a turn turn then a pause
then I would turn key off and do it again.
im NOT pulling this engine again
no way in hell, that was a major pain in the ass so lets spray something in the cylinders, (fogging fluid I do have at home)
put new oil in it, prime it by turning it over with no coil wire and no spark plugs and build up some oil pressure
from there if I hear anything ill be pissed and land lubbing it for rest of season but if not, im going to go forward with the riser gaskets (new ones)and see if new plugs ect will get it to fire up.

Jay,
I feel your pain. We had an old Scarab a few years back that took water while running. Bad manifolds. Pulled the plugs and cranked the water out. Drained the oil out the bottom (pulled the pan plug) to get it all out. Fogged the cylinders with oil (mystery oil I think) and put in fresh oil. Ran it was about 10 minutes and changed the oil again. That ended up being the good motor in the boat. The other motor had to be pulled 3 times for various stupid reasons (burned valve, bad oil pump, blown flex plate).
I personally don't feel you could have done damage with the starter alone (especially with weak batteries).
Keep at it....don't let it beat you.

When I get home, Im going to fog the cylinders and add new oil and turn it over for about 5 minutes in short spurts with no plugs in.
That should clean out what might have gotten in there
I just ordered new riser gaskets again (silver graphite ones)
Marc at BAM said that will take care of this problem for me, my gaskets are ancient that I got and I dont want to use them.
(have the orange gasket sealer strips on it)
So Joe, im back to square one right now, Ill get it though im sure
Just going to take longer than I thought
This thing is killing me
