Default h2x shifter adjustment

Have question for you guys, I have a lot of slop in my shifter when its in neutral sometimes I have to move it to make up switch to start boat and I have to really push it back to get it in reverse but it does goin to reverse , forward is fine,. My question is, is there adjustment in the helm cable to the shifter or does it sound like the drive cable is out of adjustment any help would be appreciated.... thanks

Yes, there is adjustment in your shift cable, and there is adjustment in your short shift cable ( this is the cable that runs from your outdrive in to your long cable switching station... Usually located on a riser)... The clunky feeling can be either in the outdrive mechanism, the short shift cable, or the long shift cable.. Possibly at the shift lever too ... You can pull the shift lever and eyeball it to see if the slack is there, (i doubt it)...then trace back through all the other spots.

Thanks , I narrowed it down to the cable going to the drive or the bracket itself I ordered the bravo adjustment tool and I'll go from there thanks again
