Default Pier 57 Bringing Go-Fast Boat Sizzle to Local Show

For those in the Chicagoland area, something fun to do this weekend, http://speedonthewater.com/in-the-ne...ocal-show.html.

Finally, it is great to see a Performance Boat Dealership bringing a few of their boats to a boat show. I only wish that others would do that and then maybe I would consider going to them again. Good luck with your sales.

Here's a quote from Scott Sjogren that I didn't include in the story because it wasn't relevant, but is relevant to your comment:

"For a regional boat show to succeed, the local community has to be involved and get behind it."

Something to consider for those planning/organizing shows on the local level.

For a dealer to sell four out of the five boats he brings to a local show over the weekend is outstanding. The show organizers at this one must be doing something right. I know they've created a carnival-like atmosphere with a fireworks show and other non-boating features that attract a crowd.

By no means a huge news story, but interesting in that is showcases some success at the local level.

I've found that the dealers in my area (New England) are very apprehensive about bringing the hi-po hardware to shows. They rarely if ever sell one in that type of forum and that's a lot of money to spend on floor space for what ends up being a playground for tire kickers and a jungle gym for kids. (what is it with some parents letting their kids run amok at boat shows....I digress).

The good old days of having a nice mix of hi to low end boats at shows are gone for the time being. Glad to see Pier 57 bucking the trend. No matter what I think having some high performance boat candy at a show sells a few more tickets, if not boats.
