Default Sea Ray cuddy cabin prop?

First off sorry not a big block go fast boat.

I have a 20ft 1990 Sea Ray cuddy cabin that was just repowered with the 4.3 4 barrel 225hp engine from Mercury. I had the 2 barrel before, so ending up with 35 hp or more power than before I am searching for the right prop.

I have tried Vengeance and High 5 props in 21p both would rev beyond the max 4800rpm. Also tried a Revolution 4 prop in 21p. The rev 4 maxed out at 4600rpm at 48mph gps. In the range (4400 to 4800). With full fuel 4 adults 4 kids, full load. Seems like the right prop for me?

Would going to a bigger pitch in the 3 or 5 blade prop get me anything? Mostly cruising and a little tubing now and then. My perception is a little off on the acceleration coming from a flat 4 blade prop 17p (old engine and prop) and the high 5 prop.

Also this weekend I borrowed a Tempest 23p prop. Hope do give it a try.

Maybe not the usual boat for the sight but you guys run the hot props.

Thanks!

Well ran the 23p Tempest today. Not much of a speed increase on the top end. Got to 50mph woo hoo. But that was light just me and fuel. Later on with four large adults and couple kids the hole shot was terrible.

In the rpm range but just to much pitch to get going and not enough gain on the top end.

Well I think I will order a 21p Revolution 4 Monday.

I would think the four blade is the right choice for that boat. You are not going to be running it WOT all of the time so watch your midrange performance - that is what you will be running the most!

21 Rev 4 is the perfect choice.
