Jeff, it's only about 15 miles at the most and a 20 minute boat ride. It is exposed Georgian Bay waters tho with the generally prevailing winds out of the west so can get rather bumpy at times. Once you get to Christian Island tho there are lots of Islands that offer protection. Next Island north of that is Beckwith where we hang out on the north side. Great spot to anchor and swim. Good luck.

Bob,

Hate to disagree with the godfather, but I think it is closer to 30 miles from river mouth to lighthouse. We make the trip many times over the summer and even at 70 and a straight shot it was still a good 25 minutes.

And it can get nasty quick.

Ha, no problem. It's been a couple of years for me and was going by a failing memory. LOL Tried to open Google Earth to check before posting last night and could not with our poor internet service at the cottage. I usually do not " wing it" like that and glad you caught it. Hope you are having a great summer on the Bay.

finally got to beckwith on the north side as recommended ! thanks for your input!,, waves were quite big for an 19 footer in the morning , 3 to 4 feet, so we had to run like 15-20 mph bow up in the air. the 19 still managed to stuff the nose in a couple times! ! !

toook 1.5 hours to get there. but came back with a much smoother water in 45 minutes !

couple nice speed boat were hanging in the bay! a triple outerlimit with a red canadian flag on a yellow back color. not to mention a nice big tunnel NEED FOR SPEED from Midland On. I forgot! also a one piece bikini on an older cruiser! LOL!

water is clear, and the sand is the water is firm, clean... really nice place!!! rain is coming later this afternoon so might wait for tomorrow for another ride !

what else to see? anything special to look for in collingwood area? seems like there is a big castle or something when looking that side from my beach area...

thanks again!
