Default 496 HO Raw Water Pump

I had the sea water pump shaft with 2ea bearings, tolerance ring, seal, etc. attached come out of the housing which promptly threw the serpentine belt off. Does anyone know what is supposed to hold that assembly in the housing? I am guessing press fit as there is not a snap ring or groove.

I believe they are just press fit into the brass housing. On one of mine the shaft has started to come out about 1/8 inch and has a slow drip upon shutting down the engine. I have new stainless steel pumps on order from AmericanCustomMarine.com. Give Mike a call.

Yeah, thats what I thought. I changed the serpentine belts this season and they were tight (new) going on and the tensioner is maxed out - may have put some extra stress on the pump shaft.
