Smile Sonicdude becomes Bajadude (again)

Well, I'm back to Baja!

Sold my 260 Sonic to a sand bar buddy, and bought a 1999 33 Outlaw with HP500s.

This is my 3rd Baja (Hammer, and 25 Outlaw), and the boat blows my wife and I away. Only has 120 hours, and we got a great deal (plus 6.99% financing). Great dealer too.

I'm amazed at how little the bow rises getting on plane (especially compared to the Sonic), and the fact that I can keep the boat on plane at around 20 mph without tabs. Handles rough water with no problem. Nice, solid boat. Have been able to get into the high 70s. With a little work, I'd like to see 80 at least once!

I hated to see the Sonic go, but at least I get visitation rights at the sand bar

You know what, I'm embarrased to say I never checked! We tested the boat a few weeks ago, and it ran so good, I forgot to look . Knowing the guy who owned it before, I'm sure they are whatever the boat came with.

The boats at the marina now, and will be pulled this Thursday for some cleaning so I'll check then. I'll also try to get some pictures to post.

BTW, pics of your 36 look awesome

Great! Welcome back brotha!!!!!!

I'll be interested in reading your threads, I would like to make my next purchase a 33' Outlaw. Its already great to know that you can stay on plane at 20 MPH! Wow!

What other options does your boat have? Are you trailering the boat? What will you use to pull it with?

Luv-N-It,

Thanks. No real options other than the HPs plus some Bose speakers. We're keeping it in a boat house, so I didn't get a trailer.

About the planning thing, I couldn't believe it myself.

Heading up to the lake this Thursday for 10 days. Think I'm excited? I feel like an 6 year old on Christmas Eve

Can't get this grin off my face!

Bajadude,
I can see you now... the boy in the neighborhood with a brand new bike... peddling as fast as he can... showing his buddies, and yea, grinning from ear to ear... wow!!!!!

I can't wait. It will be three years, before I can uprgade, I hope they go fast!!!!

Say, one question I have for ya, I have an 272 w/the windshield. One concern my wife has, how much air does the wind deflector in the front block, since there is no windshields with the outlaws?

Front is pretty good, I kind on slouch in the bolster anyway. The back seat gets a little windy (I think because there is a good amount of space between the front bolsters and the back bench). Don't plan on sitting there much anyway!

I'll keep you posted on my new adventure.

PS I think some of that grin will disapear first time I have to fill it up

I'm sure the grin will disappear, for a moment... but...once you crank those motors back up, come on plane, put the throttle down, I bet you'll forget about the fill up, and start grinning again!!!!! I know I would.

Congrats on your purchase. Be safe. Have a great trip and happy boating with the 33'!!!!!
