Default Alarm paid for itself this morning

Little bit of history...
Last year, about this time, my boat was broken into while in a slip at the boat yard. They had unsnapped the cover, flipped over every cushion, in search of hand held items to steal. I suffered minor losses as the thieves got two hand held VHF radios, a pair of sunglasses, and a few other minor items. At that time I decided to purchase a car alarm that would send a text to my phone if triggered. I installed magnetic pickups on the cabin door, and on each bench cushion.

Fast forward to this morning, 2:57am...

I was up doing some website work and my phone went off. I have a very unique ringer associated with any text coming from the boat. So I knew immediately the boat had been broken into. Since I live only a few blocks from the boat yard, I jumped in my truck and hauled a$$ over there. When I got there my cover had been partially removed and the cabin door was just slightly open. This time my boat was on the trailer. Anyway I drove around the yard hoping to find the little punks but wasn't able to find them.. Probably long gone.... It looks like a few other boats were broken into as well. But luckily no damage to mine and nothing was taken. I can imaging the shock, as I am sure the last thing the thieves expected was a car alarm going off as they broke into my boat. Anyway, the $250+ for the alarm and the $50/year monitoring fee paid for itself this morning...

Wonder what a bright flash would've done, probably would've found them face planted on the ground from loosing vision for 5 minutes.

you need to add a radar sensor,,this will set the alarm off as soon as they enter the cock pit which will give you more time to shoot their azz's if you have a siren i would cut those wires so i could catch them..

Those are designed for convertibles. Problem is they are designed to create a zone within a metal frame (car) it sees thru the fiberglass hull. Therefore it goes off when animals walk by. Also sees through the cockpit cover too. Been there done that. I was visiting the boat every 20min. Every time the wind blew and a tree moved the alarm went off.... They are just punks looking for handheld devices. Had I clipped the wires for the siren, they would have made it in the cabin and probably gone before I was able to get there. This way it scared them off, without damage or anything stolen.

It was funny, once I got over to the boat I called the police. Two cars showed up within minutes. After talking to them for a few minutes the one officer said "since you live so close you should just get a good scope and shot the little ba$tards". (at the end of my block you can see the boat club as it is across the creek at the end of my block.) Sounds like that guy is sick of dealing with these little punks too...

Had a compition car audio car that kept getting broken into. We found a company that had a pepper spray system, that we rigged into the alarm. They did not get far when that thing went off. but we could not get in the car for a while.

Well, exactly one week and one day. Another POS decided to try and help himself to the contents of my boat. I was just watching some TV at 1:00 am this morning and my phone got a text alarm from my boat. So, like last week, I hauled a$$ over to the boat yard to find my cover completly off this time. But once again the alarm scared off the theives. But it looks like they did get into a few other boats. It doesn't look like the same guy(s) as last week. Last week they just unsnapped enough of the cover to get in. This week, the cover was completly off. This is getting old. I decided to bring the boat home, so it is now sitting infront of my house in the road until we use it later today. Not real sure if I am going to take it back to the boat yard or find another place, maybe rack storage.... That way it will be up out of reach of the theives....

It makes me sick. People like me, bust their a$$ to get the nice things we have only to have some low life SOB ruin it.
