My friend has a stock 1995 454, not sure if its 330 or 365 hp, is there any way to tell the difference? he wants to bolt on either a 144 or 177 B&M blower, is it worth doing this on a stock motor? How much power do you guys think it will make? Motor is in a 1987 26' scarab excel
Thanks in advance!

B&m makes a 174 for big blocks, haven't seen a 144 for anything other than a small block. Weiand makes the 177, as stated it will add around 100 hp if set up properly. What does he have for a drive on it? 87 was most likely a 330 alpha setup

Thats what Im thinking too...Alpha drive and cast iron internals! Your friend would be playing with FIRE to put a blower on that setup. I can almost guarantee he will either blow up the engine or drive within the first 20 hours of use. I wouldnt do it.

I've said it before, and I will say it again. There is a guy on my lake with a 330hp with a 177 on it in a 25ft somethin, this year will be year 5 and he runs it all the time. He also told me it has a rect port intake mated to the peanut port heads. Maybe he is the luckiest guy in the world, he runs 5 lbs and still going strong. 400 hrs total last I knew

Not with these small blowers. I see te alpha being way more of a problem than a cast crank. If he already has a bravo then yes get a good cam for it dial the carb in and have a great package for cheap
