Are stock mercruiser oil cooolers directional. It appears they could run in either direction. When you flip them either way, the fittings end up in the same position, just not sure if there is something internal...looking at it there doesnt appear to be anything.

I took it off to remove some debris and couldn't remember which way it took it off (fits the same in bothe directions)

I would think if it was directional there would be an arrow indicating flow direction.

motor is a 2000 454 MPI MAG

I think water will flow through it the same from either direction. There might be a slight advantage to running the oil flow in the opposite direction to the water flow, but I don't know if it would make a huge difference. It might be preferable to have the water hit the PS cooler after the oil cooler if it is a combined unit. Others might chime in on this.

If you have the vertical oil cooler at the front of port head you can install it either way as it doesn't have a drain plug.
