I've been searching the internet trying to educate myself on this topic. Here's what I need

I need a new winch for my Eagle trailer. Stripped out on the weekend.


* Boat is 26'' Sonic Prowler 5,500 lbs - 6,000 lbs (fuel,gear etc..
* Trailer has carpeted bunks. Requires alot of cranking to get "right" to sit correctly on bow rollers.
* Current winch is Fulton T2605, 2,600 lb max. line pull. Don't like it at all! Just not HD enough. Want something Much more heavy duty.
* Want 3" (not 2") HD strap (JR Marine makes nice model).
* I get the line pull thing. Half the weight of the boat etc..
Questions
1. What is the Max. line pull model made that utilizes a 3" strap? I found A Fulton 3700, 3,700 lb line pull Series but I believe it only uses a cable. Also found Fulton model T32ZHDO301.

2. Is there no such a thing as a 2- speed 5,000 lbs trailer winch that uses a 3" strap?
3. Is Fulton the best choice?

Try a "Shelby"

I went with a Powerwench RC 30. It loads my Fountain with twins on a bunk trailer without a problem. As I launch my 29' solo having the electric wench is a god-sent. Trying to hand crank it was a bear. Best $400 ever spent.

I bought the Fulton F2 dual-speed winch. Very nice. Looks and winches great!

Was also thinking of the powerwinch but would rather a strap. Ever looked at the drum to see if the cable could be replaced with a strap?

How are you powering it? I have an EOH brake system with an emergency break away battery but I am not sure that battery is big enough?

I just bought the biggest Shelby listed on eTrailer.com after seeing one on a Myco newer than mine. I used it for the first time this weekend with my old cable and it worked great. I'll probably replace my cable this winter, with another cable.

The cable is stout. I would not worry about it. I wired the wench directly to the truck battery with a 60 amp breaker (wiring, breaker, wireless remote, pulley, all included with the wench). I keep the truck running when I use the wench. You can back your trailer into the water slowly while using the wireless remote to winch the boat on your trailer. It's a slick way to go. Before I had a two-speed hand crank. It was a tough go to retrieve my Fountain solo.

So I spoke with a Tech guy at Fulton today.
Apparently there are no hand crank winches over 3,200 lb pull that utilize a 3" strap according to Fulton (that they make). They have a 3,700 lb pull but it is cable only. I did want to stay with a 3" strap.
Sydwayz. What pound pull (model no.) are you using? You have a much bigger boat (AT) than my Sonic.

Shelby 3200 lbs. 2 speed winch from eTrailer.com.

You are not lifting the boat, just pulling it. Also, I typically loosen my winch after i get the boat and trailer on level ground, the snug it back up. I rely on my HD 10K lbs ratchet straps to hold the boat and trailer together.

I put this nylon cable on my RC 30. I used 7/16
