but only 185 HP for a 3 litre? On gas they run from 225 to 300+

I bet they have to hold the RPM's down to run that juice. Prob 4500-5000. If the engine architecture hasn't changed, then the cylinder pressures can't be increased much, hence the 185 hp. I bet it pulls pretty strong getting there though.
