Hi all. This forum has become my new favorite waste of time, and I've learned a lot trolling the forums. Thanks for all the great info.
To my question...been shopping for something with a cuddy and a V8 that will do mid 50's for me and the girlfriend to cruise some smaller Texas lakes like Canyon, Medina...maybe Travis...found an '86 Chaparral Villain II 19' for sale @ 4500 deer. 350 / Alpha. Needs vinyl work. I see an aftermarket intake manifold and chrome valve covers. Owner says floor is solid, no hour meter in the boat and a new impeller was installed in July.
Anyone had one of these? Fair price for what it is? I did a forum search and couldn't find a great deal about them.

I know Chaparral used to build a pretty decent boat. I'm not a big fan of the split swim step, and getting into the cuddy looks to be tight - I guess it's all in how you plan to use it. You might also look at some of the Baja's, Rinker's, and Crownlines, etc. of that era - might have a little more room. Also, Chaparral made a 2350 SX that had a really nice cuddy back then. Lost more room in the cabin too.
Happy hunting.

I had a 21 ,had a 350 , I put a 502 in it, great little boat but just not enough boat for Travis.. The 19 Villian is fast with little power but the ride will not be smooth.. Not enough deadrise or weight..

kinda hard riding little boat and the cuddy is a coffin. look for a 23 Nova, 23 chaparral cuddy, 23 regal velocity, 233 formula, chris scorpion, stuff like that. a little slower with stock small block, but more usable boat-except the 23 velocity. that is the fastest of the class. unless you are gonna count 22 donzi classics or real steve stepop velocitys. and then you are back into almost nonexistant cuddys. there is a 23 donzi cuddy cruiser too.

Haha...Coffin cuddy...that was the concern I had as well, coupled with lighter weight/rougher ride in the chop. But for the price, I was having a hard time picking it apart. Thanks for the other suggestions. I've been keeping an eye out for a mid-90s Chapparal 2335 SS with a 7.4...but so far the open bow 2330 with 5.7 is all that has come up for sale. :/

Fun little 22' boat. Had a friend that had one and we would be the crap out of it on Lake Mi. Was out in some stuff that we had no business being in and the boat got us back. (young and dumb)
Cabin is good for storage only.
