Recognition/Appreciation of a True Competitor
#1
This past weekend brought the OPA Racing regular racing season to a spectacular close at Solomon's Island. Anthony Smith won not one but THREE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES in three different classes. They were Class 6, Super Vee Lite and Super Cat Lite. For the entire season whether it was flat or rough water, Anthony was participating in three different races in one day running three very different type race boats to accumulate points that equaled a Champioship in each class at the close of the season. In my opinion, I rate Anthony as a "True Competitor" and just wanted to let everyone know about his accomplishments. I am also very proud to be able to say that I am on Anthony's Team (at least one of them).
Also I want to give some recognition to Ed Smith (aka Smitty) for all the hard work he puts into OPA Racing with regards to getting race sites, organizing them and actually putting the show on. The entire OPA Family should also be applauded because as a TEAM they put on a very special event for the all the Racers and Fans.

I was aware that Anthony Smith raced in the SV Class with his Dad "Smitty" and raced in Class 6 with his brother "Boomer" and that his mother "Mama Wazzup" was taking pictures of her family racing, along with many other racers but never knew that Anthony was racing in the SCL Class with Team Phoenix Parts. Congrat's go out to Anthony on winning 3 different OPA Class Championships this year and thank you to the entire Smith family for all their hard work and the money they spend to bring us fans and racers such a well run race, in a sport that we all love. Hats off to the Smith family and all the OPA competitors and volunteers it takes to make this what it is today. Looking forward to the 2013 OPA season already. Thanks everyone.

Andy,
Thanks for reminding me that Marie Smith also deserves accolades for hanging out of helicopters to take action packed photographs of the boats racing. She also should get an award for riding the best looking Chopper at any OPA Race. Nick (Boomer) also deserves recognition for probably being one of the youngest racers to win a Championship for his class.
So as not to forget anyone in the Smith Tribe lets not forget the adorable Petey and the sophisticated Ivy. They both make it all fun.
