Newbie boater here.. just picked up a 97 Baja hammer w/ 385hp 454 mag motor. I could not be happier with this boat it has my name and personality all over it it is fast and loud. I was wondering though how these things are in big lakes with good size chop. I am in the Cincinnati area so the ohio is not so bad depending on crowd but curious as to Lake Erie area or Lake Cumberland these are 2 close lakes that next season I hope to be tearing up at. Any info is very appreciated. Anyone also knows of the top 5 poker runs you would recommend going to around me?

.They suck in choppy water if you have passengers in the back seat but if its just you and one passenger or just you by yourself its a blast. Try to stay about 55mph. What prop do you have on yours? Good boat though

Great starter boat! Did you pick it up from captains cove? The wakes on the Ohio river can be just as tough as lake Erie ! Lake Erie can be fun if the wind is non existent. Lake Cumberland is great and Norris lake is awesome as well. I've had my H2x out on the river and all the other lakes within driving distance this year! Enjoy your boat and hope to see you on the river some time before the season is over. We have the purple and white h2x and our docked at rivertowne. We may be out of commission for a week or two as wee struck something on Norris lake and did a number on the drive. Have fun

I have a Revolution 23p 4 blade prop, and I don't mind a rougher ride but I have had passengers and from there perspective it was not as fun. I picked the boat up from a private seller in lexington. I hope to have it out a couple more times before putting it away. Then I have all winter to plan some good trips to neighboring lakes that are within reason. I like to go fast then tie up with other boats and have a party... but I think that is the life of a boater.

I have not been out solo yet but with 4 guys we had it going 72mph on the speedo...previous owner quoted having it closer to 80mph before. 70 is fast enough for espically when you start to hit chop or other peoples wake still learning how to handle a boat like this in those situations. Dsmawd350 are you in the cincinnati area?

Cool maybe i will catch you down there some time I belive i saw you last weekend as i was out both days. How fast have you had your boat going. Did you check out the fireworks at Coney last night though about going out for them but opted not to. I saw there are 2 meets coming up one on the river and one at Ceasers creek do you think you will be attending either ones.
