Struck something on Norris lake at about 30 mph! It was in the main channel depth gauge was reading 40 ft and myself and several other boats had gone through the same area many times during our week long trip. Thank god I was wearing a lanyard, simce it threw me out of my seat! Not sure if it was a rock, log or some other debrie .The skeg prop and lower unit are toast the damage extends into the water pickup area. The shifter seams to move much harder than it did before as well. Any advice on dealing with the insurance company on this one? Mwhat kind of other hidden damage should I be looking for?
Thanks
Larry

I don't think there is any engine damage but I will have everything checked out. I will post some pictures of the damage. I'm still at a loss to what it was that I hit but it sure was catastrophic ! Thank god it's the end of the season and it happened on our last day of vacation. There is no visable hull damage that I can see but am worried that something hidden good be wrong. It was a huge hit! Threw me from my seat!

A buddy of mine hit something near sequyah marina several years back. It had a marker up on the bank but nothing in the water.
As for damage I would look for leaks. Take it to a good shop and they should be able to fix it and check drive alignment.
