What engine stand/cradle do you like for marine motors?

I just got my drive stands in the mail today and the motors are next. I got rid of all my old engine stands when we moved so I need to get some new ones. I will be pulling the motors to redo the bilge and check the motors over. Motors are gen4 454's. Suggestions?

Depends on a few things, if you plan to strip the engines down or just pull them out for storage.
To use any regular engine stands you have to pull the coupler/bellhousing off, and if you have the iron exhaust even the stout ones will lean forward quite a bit. A lot of weight on 4 bolt holes in the back of the block.
Simple and easy is just to use a 4x4 block under the bellhousing and some jack stands under the engine mounts and set them on the floor. Unless you have offshore mounts. In that case, just drill and bolt some 4x4 blocks upright to the offshore mounts to keep the engine straight.

I bought mine from this guy through ebay. Very good price and says it will hold a transmission mounted to motor as well.

I have always used the mounts that you can rotate and never felt good leaving engines on them for months at a time fully assembled. I think the cradle option with casters will work nice.

I purchased a cheap little cradle online from Jeg's, $39 I believe it cost. You can find them on Jeg's or Summit, they're made out of 1" sq. tubing and have casters so you can roll your engine around on the floor. Uses the motor mount pads for front support and (4) bellhousing bolts at the rear. It even has bungs on the frame to hold the supplied mounting bolts, when not in use. Pretty nifty, but made in CHINA, of course, ...arrrrrrgh!
Once I hoisted my fully dressed 454 mag mpi up out of the boat, all I had to do was remove the bellhousing and bolt the carriage / cradle to the engine. Sat it right down on the ground with the flywheel and starter in place, it was nice and stable. Now I'm leaving my old short block on it so I can roll it around, if necessary.

I have 3 collecting Dust
$35 each to your door
Very Stable, work great for transport in your truck with
the casters off. Or put the casters on and roll then around your shop with ease.

i know you need/lookn for a stand, but doug herbert performance sell the moto-feet that mount to the engine motor mount and are angled suck that you can dress the engine out and run it on the dolly.everything will bolt up,bellhousing, flywheel, starter.i welded wheeles underneath the dolly so i can move it around.when i run/test my motor before i put back into boat.i use 4+4 ,s under the dolly to help keep the dolly secure.it works great.
