Oh....Please don't

Although I did grow up on my Dad's sailboat, that made me a Go Fast Guy. The sailboat took 6 hours to get to Catalina, I now get there in 40 minutes and.... "I Like It".........but it does take me 6 hours to get to the ramp
S#*!I now have 6 boats all with motors, and my son has 2 boats, both with motors.
Hopefully you will not ban me for one moment of indiscretion, and the fact that I really do have the Gear Head Sickness.
Please don't ban me, I can't live without OSO, that would be like a "Hobby Horse without a Hickory Dick"......why even go on with life.
I promise to never again post a picture of a blow boat, rag bagger, go slow, laundry boat and whatever other negative names you can come up with for sail boats.
Sorry.....but these cup cats are just amazing IMO. lol

blefever, I agree with you. The technology in the America's Cup boats is amazing. I got hooked watching back in '88(?) and went to San Diego in the early nineties to watch the last rounds live.
Being a Kiwi originally is probably the cause of my indiscretion
But carbon hulls back in the late 80's was kind of a big deal. When the "plastic fantastic" KZ7 was in the finals back then nobody went to work - pretty much the whole country of New Zealand stayed home to watch the final on tv.
Only ever been on a blow boat once though. Kinda like a horse to me, if there's no throttle with instant response I get bored quick. So please don't ban me either!

Still though i do have an inherent problem with a vessel that requires the weather to be sh!tty for it to function properly

[QUOTE=glassdave;3786606]lol . . . ok you can stay. Tell ya the truth though some of the most impressive racing i have ever seen has been 12M Americas Cup stuff. Man that is some fierce competitive high tech racing right there not to mention watching the strategy develop during an actual race.
Still though i do have an inherent problem with a vessel that requires the weather to be sh!tty for it to function properly
Whew......Thank You for your understanding, and I'm glad that you have now "Come out of the Closet Dave"........as far as Sail Boats go
As I said, I'm amazed at the huge cup cats and what the guys go through to sail them.
Helmet's on a sail boats? that says something. But I do prefer the traditional 12m mono hulls.
My wife and I sailed on NZ 2 in Cabo a few years back. They have NZ 1 and NZ 2 there as a tourist attraction and take people out on the boats and actually do match races. You grind winches, pull on lines, and take the helm, it was pretty cool even though the day we went the wind was light and best we saw was 10 knots.
Some of the most exciting and scary times of my life offshore were racing on my dads boat sailboat. Like you say Dave.....when the weather got s!**#...... the sailing got exciting.
