Default "Serious" project is restarting...30' Velocity aka Putt Putt

Well, I started the thread in November of 2006. Pretty devastating how fast time flies. My progress has been stopped for years but the Still Crazy thread has re-energized me to do this thing before it is too late!

Click here: Original tread - continuation...

A tiny bit of History that is kind of cool form the original owner, Jessop "Jay" Smith:

"FOR SALE: 30, Velocity "KAPUTT KAPUTT" -- partially delaminated hull with bondo bottom, loose stringers, plus much more. Engines are beat .280 Mercurys with low oil pressure, bad rings, blown head gaskets, bent valves and scored pistons. Otherwise in fair shape. You, too, can be a Rodney Racer by laying out 18,000 big ones or will trade for van load of cheap wine. Bent trailer, dually crew cab GMC truck included. (I should tell you about the truck, but why ruin your day!) Call Jessop Smith, nights between 2:00am and 5:00am"

I'm excited. Force me to keep going!

Last time it was in water (90's)

It was one of the boats he said he owned. Never confirmed either way. Pretty sure it was on the list OD and I put together years ago.

I have read about a Cobra that was Putt Putt after this boat. Didn't know about a Scarab?

Also, Chris Sunkin had THIS Velocity. Not sure about the Scarab.

What website?

Tom

The scarab was in Eastlake, Ohio for years. Pretty sure it finally was put to rest a year or so ago. That boat was Putt Putt, then Imperial Stom Trooper. The side blew out of it once then was sent to pasture as a pleasure boat. Dale Hipp had it for years.
