Default Resto has began! 1988 Image / Ocean express 31 cat TONS OF PICS

Well its time to give this 88" another update.

Any input or ideas would appreciated this is my first mild resto project.

> Having both engines sent out to be freshened up dyno ran.

> Repaint engine compartment

> Rebuilding back seats & center console

> Rebuild floor & cable / wiring cover

> New carpet

> Updating gauge faces & bezels. replace some no working ones

> Recover & change the dash

> Interior to be all recovered W/ new scheme. Orange, white & silver

> Install radio & speakers / amp

> Wheel & wax should take care of the ext. with a little paint touch up

> Repaint shifters & throttles.

> (5) new 5-point seat belts.

> Trailer gets new bunks & carpet as well.

> NEW NAME ?? any good ideas??

Im sure there will be more things that I find as I tear further into it.

These are all BEFORE pics

Got the floors & seats stripped out, not much hard work to do when it has aluminum floors to start with!!

Re built the "doghouse" that runs along the floor & houses all the cables, hoses & wiring for the mechanical gauges.

Rebuilt the entire back seat, maybe I won't fall through this one stepping into the engine compartment

Also got 1/2 the carpet glued down today & a new back board to fasten the battery selector switches & battery tender.

cool project, i love these build threads. Something i would like to suggest though. You may want to look into more traditional front seats, something bolstered be it sit down or full stand up. I get nervous anytime i see low sided car type seats, they are just not able to keep ya where ya need to be when the going get rough. May also wanna get the shifters grouped with the throttles, look kinda dangerous hanging off the seat there. Minimize potential things to hit, especially pointy things with corners lol.

NO five point seat belts. These can be deadly in an open boat, You are far better off with the proper seating/bolstering.

Looks like a nice winter project
