I had a buddy meet me at a local ramp a few years back in a company truck. I live nearby and offered to pick him and his daughter up at home. He declined, took the company truck to the ramp and tossed the keys on the floor of my truck. They broke into my truck, took the keys and drove off in his truck. Everything was locked up (gas powertools, tool box, etc) but since they had the keys they got everything. Stripped the truck of all the work gear and left it in a bad neighborhood 10 miles away. The company had GPS on the truck and it started rolling about 15 minutes after we left the ramp on the boat.

He was told, pay the deductibles on the insurance (one for property, one for the truck) and he could keep his job (been there 10 years, was a good employee just not the brightest. That job probably paid 50-55K a year, he declined and never got another job that even paid 1/2 what he used to make. Job wouldn't have lasted forever anyway (residential construction died in FL a couple years later) but I was shocked he let that job get away for a couple deductibles.

The funniest part was neither of them could swim so they wouldn't take off their life jackets so when they were trying to get the strap hooked on the front they kept trying to go under water with the jackets on!! Something you don't see every day!!
