Bulkhead rotten in 29 Fountain
#1
A friend of mine has a 1998 29 Fountain Fever and the bulkhead at the front of the cockpit is rotten and fuel tank is leaking, what is the best way to deal with this?

Tanks gotta come out, have to be safe there. The rotted stuff will need to be cut out and replaced not much a way around that.

Thanks, for the replies guys, I will get some pics this weekend and post them. To the tank out on the 29 is there a relatively easy way? The two options I can see are cut out the floor or lift off the cap, what would you recommend?

If you have to pay to have this done, is the boat even worth it? Seems you could be in it for 10K or more,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, assuming you have to pay for the work.
If the bulk head is bad, is the transom, and stringers bad as well? Most of the time the rot starts at the transom.

The stern seems to be okay but the rear bulkhead does also seem to be bad. It is probably worth getting it done when you consider that to ship a 29 to the Cayman Islands costs about 5-6k.

One of the least commerical islands out there, that is what I loved about it.
