I'm thinking of trying speedcoat, has anyone used this, what gains, how hard to apply , how messy, how did it look when dry, how long did it last????????

I tried to do a test last year. Before vs after. The results were inconclusive. It turns out my boat was slowing down because the engine was sick. Despite me losing speed, I believe that I did see a gain of a few mph. This was on a v hull that required a large amount of trim to run the best.

Hey Tim, didn't that stuff eat the bottom of your boat causing it to sink???? LOL!! Hey, at least you had a good view as you went down. The Lake Michigan dunes are beautiful up that way!!!

Just kidding guys. Tim's boat sank for other reasons, nothing to do with the speed coat or owner neglect.

Hey, no wonder the coasties could pull it at 35mph!

Actually, though, the stuff was slippery enought that the first time I landed the boat, it nearly went throught the back window of the truck! Scared the chit out of me!

I tried it and it felt slicker but I didn't gain any speed at all. Also the slickness has completely disappeared and it only lasted a few outings. My boat is very consistent for top end and I used a gps.

SNAKE OIL!!!

I put it on my boat last summer. I noticed absolutely no difference on top end under similar consitions. The only difference was the scum line came off alot easier, but that too was short lived. Save your $$$. My .02
