Default correct trailer load/cap

Confuesing trailer weight sticker , i have a continental trailer A2885-1600 its a 4wheel with disc/b on 2 wheels alleyminum 33ft long total , carring a 28 twin approx 8000 pounds, there website says that this model.s load is 10,000 /8,500 pounds ? my sticker on the trailer says max load carrying capacity 1,600 pounds ? , reads GVWR 2999LBS GAWR front 1499LB rear 1499LB . A 1600LB boat would look lost on this trailer . Whats going on here. Thanks for any help .

First guess is that the sticker on the trailer is the wrong sticker. Here is a question, are the axles torsion or leaf spring? The website says torsion axles used on trailers over 8500#

General rule of thumb 5 lugs 3500 each axle, 6 lug 5200 each, 8 lug 6000 each

Someone may have put a goofy sticker on there for tax and license plate purposes. Different states charge different amounts for the weight capacity of the trailer.

FirstThanks for the replys,
, it has leaf spings i bought the trailer new via third party from the factory ,i have spoke to the person who got the trailer for me about the 1600 LB max load on the sticker, and he said they put that on there for legal reasons ?? I am sure there are 6 lug nuts , the sticker and the title seem to say the same thing .Just pulled the title out it says GVWR 2999LB shipping weight 1399LBs body type A2885- 1600 . This is a 2009 trailer i have had the boat and trailer shipped to England so it is not just a case of pop in to the trailer shop where it was bought and find out .

Sounds like tax / import duty would be helped with the lower GVWR.

Lug nuts are a good guess but there should be a model number on the axles that should be definitive.
