Did a quick search...found some info but nothing substantial about gel coat bilges...

need recommendations for a cleaning agent. i have some brown metal stains, grease, dirt, etc...something that wont harm the gel coat.

also i have some gel coat chipping in areas..i plan to grind and fill back in with some epoxy. what do people recommend for paint...gel coat, rustoleum, or something else?

any help is appreciated...thanks.

Simple Green seems to work the best.

when I bought my boat i think the guy before me never did a bilge cleanout. I used "purple power" that you can buy at auto zone. I put it in a cheap bug sprayer (one that you pump to keep pressure) so I can get everywhere in the bilge. Then after doing that I put the bilge cleaner concentrate directly in the bilge and ran all day. After all that it cleaned up real nice.

I've used the West Marine bilge cleaner with excellent results.

Tuff stuff. Just don't let it sit too long. Stiff brush, power wash.That's what I do

Good degreaser, if you have any rust stains they make a rust stain remover that woks ok. On-Off but wear a mask its nasty. I have also used a power washer. For the gel coat nicks I would just sand and repair with gel coat, but fiberglass repair is not my specialty so I could be wrong on that.
