Anybody get one? How do they work?

Yes, yes and yes. You can set it so it will go off and not drain the battery. Much easier to run through the screens and adjust settings. Plus it gives you a true frame of reference on what you are shooting.

I have one of the original go pro with the LCD back. However, I cant make mine "auto shut off". Great if your hand holding it.

+1 just makes the damn thing easier to use, we all know the controls are far from intuitive.

If you have the wifi backpack, you can use your iphone as a remote control and a monitor for the camera. Im not sure how battery life is compared to the backpack monitor though.

I just got the new Hero 3 for xmas, the Iphone app is amazing! Full control and high res feed, which is the same function of the wifi backpack. Also shows battery life!

No more climbing all over your boat to turn the camera off when you stop.

I bought the screen when it was first released. Use it just about every time I use the camera. It is handy to have.

Getting it shut off is a programming feature. I believe mine is programmed to stay on for 30 seconds after I turn it on.

It's handy to have if I want to view my footage prior to having access to a computer too.
