Allan, you crack me up man! I'm talking wit the mechanic almost daily it seems. He is a very cool guy and I believe he is doing the fastest best job he can. He has been saying it is going to be "hopefully" done by this Friday so we can take it up to the lake and test it Friday night. However, there needs to be some kinda major work done on the exhaust side of things. I bought those gills from KWB who had them on a Gun. They are dry
(that just makes me happy and I have to smile!) Any way, the are long. He (the mech) wanted to make them back into wet so he can run the internal flappers...But I said HELL NO, run 'em dry baby! But it sounds like he's going to have to do some work on the transom to open the holes, then he wants to put the dumps over the exhaust tips. Put a tiny hole in the top of the tip so a little water goes back into the exhaut right as it leaves the tip so at least it will cool the external flapper (thus hoping the exhaust heat wont burn up the flapper after every use!
)
I'm frickin ready to get my boat back...It's nice driving everyone elses stuff around and all but I NEED my boat back! Plus I'm anxious to see what this thing is going to do. I'll let you know by next week. but the plan right now is I'm taking it to Lake Havasu in two weeks and the Mechanic is going with me, so theres a little insentive there!
Whats up with your ride bro? everything running good?? whats the speed up to now??

You gotta be going crazy. Ofcourse, you have a "year round summer" out there!! Ride is good, especially considering I am putting on a hydraulic ram to help with safety/steering stability. I should have done it before, glad it is going to be done now. I'm just waiting on the parts.
Sent prop to get labbed, so I am hoping to see 76-77gps on a good day with a steady 74-75. Best to date is 74gps on the nose. Handles well, attitude of the boat is pretty good. I just looked at a 1999 3/4ton 4x4 Suburban today. Spotless. Sweet truck, I told the guy I would call him tomorrow, not sure yet what to do. GOod price, extremely clean. However...........I ain't puttin' 10k into suspension, wheels and tires like you left coasters do......HAHAHAHAHAHA......as much as I like that.
LAter humper, have fun beatin' on everyone else's toys and make sure you go to the water with some props, include in that mix a high 20's Rev 4 if possible, I bet you will like that prop quite a bit. A4

Dave, 98 24 Outlaw, EAI Motorsports 509ci (Inside joke), 520hp, 575ft/lbs/tq, 1.50 gears, n/a, 23 rev4 prop, 5200rpm. Just sent prop to get labbed. Best to date is 74 flat gps. Normally will run about 71-73 depending on load and weather. Motor is pretty temp sensative, so the warm humid air hurts pretty bad, at least a few mph or more. Flat Tq curve makes it very quick. If I race someone I can let them get right up on me before I peg the stick. Jumps from 55 to 70's in a matter of seconds.
I assume you put the whipple on a 454 mag. Depending in boost you are probably real close to my power (with low boost ofcourse). How many rpm's are you turning and with what prop?? Maybe we can squeze a few more mph out for ya. I won't be online until monday or tuesday. Later

allan4 ,
Thanks for the reply!! I am running 6 lbs boost at 5000 rpm with a stock 26 Bravo 1 thru 1:50 gears. I had another 26 Bravo labbed but they f@#*ed it up and won't fix it. Anyways best speed is 73 on GPS with a whole bunch of chine walk. I tried a 26" Mach sterndriver yesterday but it was 94 humid degrees out and I did hit 72 mph at 4800. It would not pull to 5000. I had no chine walk with this prop but boat was slow accelerating as well. I was going to try the labbed prop again today but it is 98 degrees and humid so I am staying home. My motor is making around 525 hp I guess. I have a new ignition module with a 5300 rpm redline that I am going to install monday. After I had the prop labbed I lost speed (5 mph) but the day I ran it was really cold and I kept hitting the limiter. I think maybe now that it is hotter out along with the increased rev limit maybe it will work? I just want to get to 75 mph. I am pulling motor (which is all stock) this fall to replace u joints and coupler and I am going to put a roller cam setup in to gain some more hp. Are you sure you are running a 23" prop. Seems kinda small for that much hp. Let me know if you have any suggestions or if I can help you.
Thanks again,
Dave
P.S. The whipple is on a stock 454 Magnum
