Cutting a transom notch??

Just for thought, if a boat was available with and without a notch on the transom, and you were going to cut one into one of the hulls laid up without, would you copy a factory setup or is there a possible advantage to going a bit higher and further forward? The boat would be a complete restore so this is much cheaper than Ssm boxes

I would do it.. Like you said its allot cheaper than buying boxes and all the rigging that goes along with them.. Keep in mind that your shortening the hull by 12"..
I did it to a 88 Chris Craft 32 Fittipaldi back in 03 but after it was done I left the shop so I don't know what kind of diffewrence there was with the boat once the owner got it all rigged and back in the water, it was very easy to do though!!!
I was going to do it to my 320 plus the boxes but decided against shortening the running surface of the hull..
