Default Hours before rebuilding DPX600's

I am looking at a 382 fasteck with Volvo dpx600hp's. They have 500hrs on them, I need advise on the probability that they need to be rebuilt or freshened up. I do not believe that they have ever had any work done on them. I understand that they were hand built for Volvo by Innovation Marine.

Also what do you think a refresh or a rebuild would cost? They run fine now.

Thanks for any advice...

I sold a 99 a few years ago with the DPX600s, boat ran great, but found lots of metal in oil and ended up rebuilding both motors. I believe they only had around 300 hours on them.

Ask around, most people would recommend a full rebuild with that many hours or at least re-fresh the top ends, a few will say "otherwise"

Have a leak down test done and hope for the best, expect the worst. All that being said, its a nice running boat with the 600s when they are dialed in. Good luck!

All depends on how it was driven. Fast and hard in a heavy boat, you are due. Under 3000 rpms most of the time in a smaller fresh water boat and you can go much longer.

Analysis is a great idea.

Any idea on what it would cost for a good shop to rebuild them? Who would you recommend at LOTO?

Just went through the 700's on the Donzi. The budget was $10k each or $5k if I justed wanted top end (price did not include the remove and replace). Decided to go with the complete refresh. Price came out more than the $10k. Mostly due to the shape the heads where in. The Fasteck with the 600's is hard on drives. Both because the bravo xr's are rated at 600 and the Fasteck has stelling extension boxes. Work the refresh money into your purchase because their is nothing worse than having to thro money into a "new to you" boat especially when your wifey is happy with the purchase and looking forward to a boat ride.
