Default Merc Racing 1075 dyno video

Thought you might like to see the dyno of a 1075 we just rebuilt for "Phat Cat", a 43 Nortech. Sorry about the poor quality just had a phone to do the video.

Great job, Bob. I saw the number blow past 1100.....what did it end up with? Was this just a freshen up or did you make a couple upgrades?

It was a total rebuild. Only thing original is block, crank, some rods and heads. Even had to replace the blower compressors. But it is to stock specs. Interestingly those dyno numbers are using the old standard correction factor that most aftermarket dyno shops use. Merc uses the SAE standard correction factor on their race motors. Changing the standard to SAE on this pull netted a 1068 HP reading. Now you can see why Merc engines run as good as some of the custom engines rated at higher HP.

Yeh, it hasn't been running right in a couple of years. I told him it was hurt 2 years ago but he put off the inevitable. Both engines were really tired, but the bearings in one of the blowers came apart and the engine ate it. Destroyed one piston, rod and both blower compressors.

The SAE spec is very conservative. It also shows why "dyno" readings can be so different.
