Can't figure out if a Merc 700SCI can be used with a bravo-style drive, or must it be mated to to a NXT drive?? If you could use, say a BMAX, do you use the transmission that the 700s seem to be sold with?? Thanks.

A B max shift internal so you don t use the NXT transmission which also uses a different bell housing then a bravo set up .

The 700 can be mated to a bravo style drive with no transmission , its the same as the 600 sci.

All bravo style drives shift internally, no need for a transmission. Many guys out there with power well beyond 700hp and a bmax or equivelant.
Mercury warranties and sells the 700 with the nxt as a package since a 6 is overkill and a bravo xr will cost them too much in warranty repairs. But to answer your question, if you get a bravo bellhousing and coupler, starter, and make sure the ring gear on the flywheel is correct you could put it in a bravo boat, without the need of the trans.

Just to close this thread out, for future readers -Merc says other drives can be used, but stall problems can be experienced at idle and shift due to ecm being flashed specifically for the NXT drive. Maybe whipple's reflash takes care of that issue? I don't know.

I've run the 700SCi with an Imco SC on a 25 Daytona. Never had a problem as long as I've known about it. 700 bolts right up, without the tranny.
