We rebuilt a merc 500 EFI and need to know the base timing specs and timing procedure for initial start up.

Take the cap off the diag. plug at the rear l/h side of the engine, you need to connect a jumper wire between the
black wire and the black/white wire.

That puts it in base timing mode, 8* is the spec.
