Just wondering what the consequences of cold water could be. After the complete rerig, im anxious to get a test run in asap to see if theres any issues before boating season is in full swing as well as see where im at as far as props are concerned.finishing up the hyd steering this weekend and its supposed to be in the upper 40s low 50s this week but the water temp is about 40.am i looking for cracked manifolds or should i be ok?any thoughts?

Don't get in the water. You will get hypothermia.

Just make sure the engines are up to temp before you drop the hammers.

If you are running thermostats, then get the motors over 130 and get the oil over 180 before you hammer it. Otherwise, no problems.

I notice very little difference in running temps regardless of sea temp. This always seemed to be the case with any motor I've owned.

Like the others said, make sure your temps are up before getting on it.

Regardless of time of year or temps i never run anything much above idle til im up to operating temp.i just wasn't sure with the cold water considering as soon as the t-stat opens its ice cold water through everything

only thing that might crack is your body from freezing,i have been out testing in 40 deg weather,wear a parka.

i would wait,,you might run into a few logs or what ever floats..if you really want to make a test run take the boat to a warmer state to were you can get the rite egt's,,it will all change with the warm air..
