Default aeration tubes on a notched transom

I have a 1999 42 lightning with the big steps and a notched transom.
I noticed today that it has 2 pickups on the top side of the notched transom that lead to dump outs on each side of the boat. The dumpouts on the side are right next to thebilge dumpouts on the side.

Any idea why Fountain would have put What I am gonna call a vent tube or Aeration tube from the notched transom to the boat sides?

The Idea was to relieve the vacuum created in the notch but it must not have made enough difference to be done on all production boats, my 05 does not have them.

I have 2 on my 1999.
One vented to each side with no shut off valves.

Thanks

I wonder if I can get rid of mine? It would look better with 2 less hoses

No, it's just for dock side use.
