What kind of wire do you guys use inside boat when adding shorepower??

I have seen a few different things, some looks like extension cord, others look like regular romex???? didnt think romex was used in boats...??

I think its a marine-certified stuff that looks a bit like romex. Check a West Marine catalog-they have a good electrical section.

Thats exactly what I thought when I first tore into my boat, Romex WTF!! then I read the coating on the wire & its all marine grade 3 wire. Still looks just like the stuff in my house

From the shorepower plug to panel is 30A is it gauged like regular AC amp?

Braided and solid are rated slightly differently, also jacket material has different temperature ratings that effect the overall rating. It's important to check the rating for that specific wire type. The last thing you want to do is skimp on your shorepower. I added shorepower to my boat, I added a twist lock plug on the outside and a BlueSea circuit breaker panel. I added a GFI to the cabin and a circuit for the ProMariner to keep the batteries charged.

I got all the parts from a doner boat, but I need wire, do I run a #8 or #10 from round plug to panel? it's 30 amp... I am running #10 to everything else...

10 gauge will run 30 amp...wouldn't hurt to go 8 to panel .Most circuits from the panel out shouldn't have to be but 14 gauge for up to 15 amp draw...12 gauge for 20 amp...Marine wire is stranded wire

All I will have is AC, one maybe two outlets... and the charger...
