The same thing happened in Cape Cod over the 4th holiday. However it was not a 25' Deckboat....it was a 46' Cigarette, and the outcome was not as positive.....his best friend dead....

These folks are close to home. Don't know them personally - they're friends of a friend. Too bad. I let everyone know about the prop and that it's sharp. Standard procedure - if anyone is in the water the engine is OFF. No exceptions.

Same rules apply in my part too. Unfortunately, this is at least the 3rd one I have read about this season. Plus, I've several near misses that would have been deadly if someone slipped just a little.

Yup people in the water engines off and keys out. It is to easy for some one to turn the key just because. Same aplies when I am in the engine bay.

Jon is right.........Keys out.
How many times has some one leaned over to chech depth or check your bateries for you and cranked or started the motor.
Motors off...keys in the sink!

frankly , im surprized it doesnt happen alot more then it does especially at party cove.

i had some idiot swim face down right towards my props at party cove while im stuck in a traffic jam.his friends start screaming at him which also alerts me to the dumbass.i promplty kill the engines.this guy didnt look up until he was 3 feet away from my props.

that was the last time i ventured deep into party cove.
