If you are on Lake Winnebago or that chain you will love it. Smaller lakes the boat is bit large. High speed handling is night and day. I have also owned a lot of cats some Eliminator and two 35 Motions are that are almost the same as the Spectre. True cats have a hop at about 75mph in the 36 you are looking at. The pod hull Eliminators do not do this. For small lakes and under 100 mph the Eliminators are a dream. Over 100 and I only want to be in a true cat. Rough water the true cat will amaze you as compared to the 28 Daytona.

60-110? Wow that is a big spread. My 35's Motions and 32 Skater all had a porpoise in flat water 75-85 mph. You can trim down to stop that but the boat is not happy. With 800's you can power right through it and and not hop at all. You can cruise all day long at 60 mph but it is boring. At 90 mph and up most (good) cats really are at their best. That is why you seldom see big cats running less than 100 in a poker run. The ride is so much better. I think a 36 with 800s is a real nice package. Hopefully has some good drives. Ideally #6.

I've had 2 eliminators. A 25 single with 700hp and a 30 with twin 496's. I currently own a 36 spectre with twin 625's. It's a different boat in several ways compared to a eliminator. Depending on the year of the boats , I personally feel the fit and finish of a eliminator is leaps and bounds better than spectre. Expecially in the early 2000's. The later spectres are much better.
Brad hit the nail on the head with his comments above. Except my spectre only hops around 70-75 and it's minimal compared to the stories I've heard others describe. A lot has to do with each boats setup. CG and X dimension. As for the boat you describe above. I looked at it before buying mine.

i live about 1200 miles from the boat. the current owner makes the boat out to be in great shape with pretty much every thing fresh. what can you tell me about it? my last daytona was a 2007 with twin 525s. i am worried going back 5 years and to a spectra about fit and finish because you are right. Eliminators are great in that way.

My experience in the 36 was awesome. We were swallowing 3-5's in slop water at over 100 and it was a blast. Tracked perfectly, a little bow spray under 70 but that could have been water conditions. It's a great ride and I hope Jay puts a new deal together to go back to building great cats at a reasonable price. Good luck and enjoy shopping.
