Default clarion cmd head unit and remote opinions

I am going to buy a new head unit and remotes and was leaning toward alpine 9886 but have came across a good deal on brand new cmd4 with two wired remotes and 6 disk changer so might be hard for me to pass up. Just wondering what peoples experiences or opinions are on the clarion head unit and remotes.

Clarion is what is in my Nautique as factory equipment. I think it is good quality and works very well. I think it would be a great choice. My system has one amp 6 speakers and a woofer, very clear and powerful.

if you want the best, take a look at the Fusion MS-IP700 http://www.fusionelectronics.com/mar...eries/ms-ip700 no need for wired remotes. anyone with an apple product can control it via wifi

you can find them fairly cheap on ebay and various marine suppliers. drop in your ipod/iphone

The CMD4 is old. No one uses CD's anymore and a changer does not hold up on a boat. Get the Alpine unit.

The CMD4 came in my boat and has the auxiliary input cable for my phone/ipod. Seems to work good.

Waves & Wheels installed a Clarion CMD6 with wired remotes and USB port in my boat. I absolutely love it! It's easy to use, works flawlessly, and the sound quality is phenomenal. I use the USB port 99% of the time. I just set the headunit to AUX, plug in my android phone, and I can control 100% of my music from the remotes without ever needing to touch the headunit.

The CDM 6 is a great unit. It has usb and wired remotes also. I have one powering 3 amps and it works great.

CD decks are obsolete and don't work unless you are anchored up, forget about trying to use while running in anything but flat water.

I went with the Sony that has an ipod tray, had to return the first one because the cable chafed and quit working. So far I haven't had any issue with the second one. It's great, I mounted the wired remote in my dash in place of the pitot speedo.

I don't really care about listening while cruising, really only listen when anchored and prob will use iPod or iPhone a lot but like to be able to play CDs as well. Do you guys know the main differences between the cmd 6 and 4? I know the 4 is older but I don't really care about that. I have also been looking at sony cdxm60 and wired remote, any opinions on it?
