Default Raft up record attempt

The annual Lake Norman Raft Up record attempt is this Saturday.

Last year they had 700 boats. This year they are trying for 800, for a new world's record.

This is done on the south end of the lake where the lake meets I-77 at exit 30.

A couple of years back they put permanent anchors in the ground that they tie the big boat to and everyone rafts off of it.

The time is from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. They have a plane fly over at 4:00 for the photo and all boats that are rafted together at that time are counted.

Bring food, drinks, and plenty of fenders and plan to be part of the record.

Happy boating.

Hell.....LOL.... 700 - 800 rafted together.....

I think LOTO's "geriatric party cove" gets more rafted together than that!!!!!! Hell the real party cove gets more than that off season - say May & Sept...

Let's clarify this slightly...for my feeble mind
Is the Lake Norman one continuous float(i.e.- not seperate rafts)? If so, it WOULD be biger thatn LOTO, because there are tons of different rafts on different anchors....
We need a ruling here...where is Phuknlwr?

That is a very impressive picture of party cove. WOW a lot of boats.

I am not involved in this raft up other than wanting to mention to anyone in the area.

We will probably tie up with them this year because one of the event people is a friend.

This is One continuious raft up. They will have one large house boat in the center tied off to four permanent anchors and three to hour hundred boats off of each side.

They hold some type of record for this. I will have to call him tonight for the exact details.

I saw the aerial photo from last year and it is awesome.

Thanks Mark

OK, here is the deal.

I just spoke to Brian Moore of the Piedmont Personal Water Craft Club. He is a customer and the guy that has asked us to be a part of this event.

Currently Lake Norman holds the Guiness World record at 600 boats all rafted together.

They register and follow all the guidlines. They are looking for competition, and from the looks of lakes like LOTO, they could get it.

It is put on by Bull Dog Marketing and does not cost anything to be in it. They receive sponsership money and get proceeds from the sale of shirts and pictures of the raftup.

So far this year they have already received $30,000 in sponser money and this money goes back into improvements on the lake like markers, lights, etc.

Check it out at: www.lakenormanraftup.com

They have to take many aerial photos and they are gone over under a magnifing glass to confirm that all the boats are connected together.
