Glad to see that the Reliable Carriers Superboat of Tom Abrams will once again be racing but this time it will be with a new Team and owner. Sheikh Hassan bin Jabor-Al-Thani of Spirit of Qatar and the Sheikh will have someone who is very familiar with throttling that boat, his throttleman Steve Curtis who also throttled for Tom Abrams to an Offshore Powerboat Racing World Championship. Looking forward to seeing that boat again and I hope that maybe they will be able to make it to the St. Clair River Classic this year.

Clearly, the Qatar team could compete in any class it wanted to. From what I've been told my multiple sources, they were looking for the class that offered the best chance of consistent competition, and that was/is Superboat. They are definitely committed to their turbine program as well. However, they are aware that competition shows up sporadically in that class.

Good news for the sport.
