Question 1987 240 Sport: 502 and Bravo factory????

Could an 87' 240 Sport come with a 502 and Bravo from the factory??? Im just curious...

I would think that could be an option. Does it have a Bravo drive? If it has an alpha I doubt it.

I had a 1988 240..... I dont think the 502 became available until 1990 or so....

Don't see how. Unless it was a 'late' 87.

Just get the serial numbers from the engine and drive and that will answer your question.

No. The Bravo was released for the '88 model year. '87 would have been an Alpha. Also I believe the first 502 was 1990.

Back in the fall of '87, I had heard about this new drive from Mercruiser. Ordered a new '88 Sport 220 with the 454 Mag/ Bravo package got it May '88.

1987 only came with a 330hp 454 and alfa drive. i got the 1988 and they upgrade it to a 365hp and bravo drive

Thanks guys. Just doing a little research on my boat. Its an 87 with a 502 (Tyler Crocket built) with a Bravo. The Bravo drive serial # on it was 1990 model. I blew that drive on it last summer and have a 2012 new style bravo in it now
