Hi im new to this forum and from Ontario Canada
Any opinions on an 1988 226? $7000 Can. with a tandem trailer. Needs restoration.
It has a 502 merc with a bravo 1 and NO thru hull exhaust, It was exhaust a 454. I dont know why the motor was switched. How hard are replacement parts to get ? It needs a new cockpit carpet and a really good buff and polish and some gauge replacement upholstery work down the road. Im looking for a good day boat for my family and wondering if the is a good buy. Any info from anyone would be great.
Thx.

Pics would help a ton!! What is the interior like? Have you checked the transom and stringers for moisture and rot? How does the motor run? Compression good? It sounds like the boat was neglected which always makes me think the motor and drive were too.
I would highly suggest a full survey. Personally, I think the price sounds a little high based on your description.
