From what I understand my 36 skater is expoxy. I need to make some repairs to the bottom where it is coming off exposing the fiberglass. Where do I get the material to repair the expoxy. Is it sold everywhere and is basically like gelcoat? I assume you apply it nd sand it

if it is epoxy the white is most likely Imron. You will need to do any surface repairs with an epoxy filler like Silvertips Quickfair
http://www.systemthree.com/store/pc/...ikFair-c17.htm
Silvertip use to offer a free sample pack that was two small tubs of the A and B part that was perfect for touch ups. Not sure if they still have them but they were handy. Although i do see they have a 4.5 ounce kit for ten bucks now.
Once you have the surface true its just a simple prime and paint with a light blend in the area. How big is the repair area?

Appreciate that info. It is coming apart where the rail sits on the trailer mostly. some other areas but small. I would say the total area is a foot or two at the most combined. Preparing the surface? anything special to do?
Thanks

some say you can with an epoxy that has no Amine blush but i have always avoided trying. I never do none the less, just think theres to many reasons against it. Have also been bitten trying some of the methods that were supposed to work

Most gelcoats only adhere to fiberglass, most resins and gelcoat.
Gelcoat will adhere to fillers like 3M marine filler.
Tip:
When filling areas with a filler and plan to topcoat with a gelcoat or high mil paint you don't want the filler flush to the surface because you'll have no place for the gel or a thick paint to go.

I know what you mean by that ,I use epoxy almost every day for like 20 years ,for repairing boats ,cars trucks etc perfect for insulated truck trailers with roofmate foam in the panels where solvent free epoxy is used , polyesther bondo/body filler hardens or dry,s perfect and even bonds great ,but when using topcoat over the epoxy it will never dry /harden ,althoug when it sits for a longer period of time ,the topcoat will dry /harden ,seems like the amine has taken some time..?
