Default Black and orange wires on transom assembley????

I'm installing the replacement transom assembly tonight. What do the black and orange wires coming out of the bottom of the assembly do? What are they for? The ones on my current drive simply come into the boat and get tied in a knot. Is it an alarm of some kind???

Mike

Mike it's part of the corrosion system (MERCATHODE) that you don't have.

If you look on the bottom of the assembly you'll see that it's held on by two bolts. If you do decide to remove it, you'll need to fabricate a block off plate or you'll have a leak.

Tim, I'm gonna just leave it on and cut the wires short on the inside. But I have bigger problems to deal with. See my other post.
