Does anyone sell a longer bolt with the threaded insert for the trim tabs? They are 280 k planes. I am talking about the threaded stud that the hose screws into that goes through the transom. My transom is 4" thick and I will to drill a very big hole half way through the transom to catch the nut. I will hate to do that with a new transom. Or is there another solution?

What drives are you going to use with a 4" thick transom?

Many many years ago I made one out of a stainless dowel. If you took your old one to a machine show I'm sure they could fab one up. The only thing I had to do different was where the hose connects to the tube. The tube has a internal brake line flare. I machined the inside for pipe thread and screwed a brake line adapter fitting into it.

Take the stud out cut it , and weld an extension in the middle. All u need is stainless tubing . Any good tig welder could do it.

Ok....seems like that is the way for me to go...Now if I can get the darn thing out!

Standard stud is 4.5", mercury offers a 6" if that will help

Mercury is always very proud of their stuff! That is for the set of 4, it eases the pain a little bit!

Just remember the peak pressure can be close to 3000 PSI, and if one of them leaks it will be injecting hydraulic fluid under pressure right into your transom.
